This is probably the smallest railway centre I’ve been to however with engineering sheds, model railways, signalling demonstrations and one of the countries few remaining operational vaccum operated turntables, there is still plenty to appreciate in this small corner of Somerset. Speaking with volunteers there, the centre have plans to increase the length of the current track and effectively build a small halt in order to run a station-to-station service.

Directly opposite the railway centre, the mainline station of Yeovil Junction can be found. Services are hourly today but there is a Class 159 sitting idle ready to be called into service.

A Ruston 0-4-0 shunter sits on the turntable ready to give a demonstration of the vaccum brake operation.
