Its Easter time and we’re at the Northampton and Lamport Railway in Northamptonshire. It’s currently quite a short railway with only a single station at Pitsford and Brampton as of writing this, however exciting news ahead…the line is in the process of extending back to Boughton and as you’ll see below, this is very nearly complete. There’s a nice railway path which runs adjacent to the entire line which I enjoyed walking along and pictures from either end can be seen below.

End of the line. The bridge requires extensive restoration work for services to resume over it

Pitsford sidings used to be a spawling network of railway track to support the quarrying efforts in the region of ironstone. Hardly anything remains of this today apart from a reconstructed signal box.

Boughton stationat the far southern end of the line. Trains will be in operation to here soon.

This sounded fascinating and I wish I was around to see what they were up to. I was hoping to find some information out about this after the event but sadly couldn’t find anything.
