Keighley and Worth Valley Railway

If you wanted to visit Yorkshire, you would certainly have no shortage of reasons to do so. Whether it’s to visit ‘Bronte County’, the Yorkshire Dales or to take a ride on the iconic railway which featured in the film version of ‘The Railway Children’, you are guaranteed to have a memorable trip. We’re travelling the full length of the KWVR today, starting at Oxenhope and ending the day at Keighley.

Damems Station Signal Box

Damems is the smallest station in England yet is given the same love and attention to detail as all the other stations along the route. It even has a manned level crossing. The next station, Oakworth, will be familiar to all fans of the Railway Children as it’s the iconic station which featured in the film. On such a lovely summers day and the flowers all in bloom, the station looks splendid.

On the journey back, I decided to walk between Oakworth and Haworth. There were some lovely views of the rolling countryside which should not be missed.

The final stop is Keighley and lots of goodies to see here. It’s a dual train service day, one pulled by the Class 37 and one pulled by the Ivatt 2MT in the gorgeous scarlet livery.

To round the day out, we took a nice drive through the Yorkshire Dales which ended in a spectacular sunset. It seems appropriate to finish off this entry with the final photo of the day.
