This really was a true mixed traction gala, with steam, diesel and…. rides on a Tamper machine pulling a brake van…well, it would be rude to say no!
First train of the day is a double header: A Small Prairie (5526) and the mighty Battle of Britain Class ‘257 Squadron’ to take us from Tunbridge Wells West to Eridge.
Once at Eridge, 5526 does a run around to take us back to Tunbridge Wells West where the Diesel party is starting.
And now for something completely different. Brake van rides were departing Tunbridge Wells West for a return journey to Groombridge. Hauled by the Plasser & Theurer Tamper machine, this was a real treat and not something you can say you’ve done many times before.
